Why You Should Hire a Professional for NJ Mold Removal & Mold Remediation

Mold remediation is not a “DIY job”, or even something to entrust to a casual contractor or home renovation company. It requires professional training, chemicals, and equipment. Mold is incredibly easy to spread, as it is carried by many invisible microscopic spores that are easily moved by air currents or physical contact. When inhaled, mold spores can lead to health problems. Most importantly, as mold can grow on almost any organic matter, it can quickly infest belongings, furniture, and other spaces in the house when the source of the issue is not eliminated.

Treating mold improperly or applying a “band-aid solution” that doesn’t address the root cause of the issue only creates additional costs and stress for NJ residents looking to keep their environment clean and healthy. It’s safer to get your mold inspections and mold remediation services done properly, once and for all.

  • Signs of leaks or previous water damage to the walls or building
  • Allergies, breathing difficulties, fatigue, or a general sense of being unwell that are location-specific or otherwise unexplained
  • Carpets or furniture in rooms have a musty smell and never quite feel dry
  • An existing mold growth that keeps coming back or getting worse

What Are Mold Removal And Mold Remediation?

Mold removal is the process of physically cleaning the surfaces that are affected by mold. In cases where the growth has developed beyond what we can surface clean and thoroughly, the infected material must be removed. This may often refer to insulation, drywall, wood, or materials like caulk or fabric, which are porous or under which mold may reach crevices that are difficult to clean.

That’s all fun and games until your mold comes back because invisible mold spores are still around and the conditions that lead to you having too much mold in the first place are unsolved. That’s where mold remediation comes in. This is the process of addressing conditions in the environment necessary for successful mold abatement (the ending, reduction, or lessening of excessive mold levels). Basically, mold remediation means an action plan to make sure your mold issue is solved, not just temporarily cleaned up.

Our Mold Remediation NJ Process

Whether our clients have residential or commercial needs, the friendly certified professionals at AAA Lead Pro follow strict guidelines to ensure your disinfection and plan to prevent mold recurrence are successful. After your mold inspection and testing are complete, our technicians will provide an analysis of the lab results, so you can understand the conditions of mold growth in your building.

1. After mold inspectors assess your home or business, we refer to the inspector report to physically clean mold present in any room, such as the walls, ceilings, roof, shower walls, basement, attic, crawl space, or wood materials.

2. Certified mold remediation specialists then treat the area displaying symptoms of past, present, or future mold growth. They may use anti-microbial solutions to inhibit mold cell development.

3. The direct cause of the conditions encouraging mold growth must be addressed and resolved. For example, using dehumidifiers and replacing old, faulty appliances causing condensation.

4. A clearance test will confirm indoor air quality inside the property is back to normal and mold presence is at safe levels.

    Can I remove mold myself?

In the case of a very small amount of surface mold, you could carefully try to clean it yourself with household cleaners and equipment such as gloves and a mask. This process would amount to wiping the mold off from affected surfaces. However, we don’t recommend treating a mold problem yourself.

Why? Because this can result in mold cross-contaminating other areas, even spreading into the structural foundations of your building. If your mold issue turns out to be more than surface level (for example, if it’s spread inside walls without you realizing, or growing under the caulking of your sink or shower), you may be delaying true treatment and allowing the mold to progress in your home while you’re under the impression that it’s gone.

How much does mold removal cost in NJ?

It is difficult to estimate the cost of mold removal and remediation services without seeing the extent and nature of the damage, determining the cause of the mold and thus what’s needed to solve the issue, and identifying what tools and materials are needed to do the job. The best way to save money on mold removal is to take action immediately. The longer you wait and the worse your mold gets, the more your mold remediation will cost.

What do you do when you find mold at home?
    1. Turn off any fans, HVAC system, or other air-moving appliances.
    2. Keep family, residents and/or animals out of the affected area.
    3. Keep the door and any windows leading into the rest of the building closed.
    4. Try to determine the source of water or moisture. Take steps to stop it if possible.
    5. Don’t disturb or touch the mold.
    6. Don’t spray disinfectants or bleach on the mold.
    7. Call AAA Lead Pros for your free consultation and we’ll advise you on next steps.
Why should I care about indoor air quality in NJ?

Both outdoor and indoor air affect the air quality of your home, and there are still significant air quality issues in New Jersey, despite the efforts of the 1963 federal Clean Air Act and 1954 state Air Pollution Control Act. Beyond helping to identify and sanitize your home’s indoor air, so you can avoid inhaling mold and other potentially toxic substances, the indoor air quality test your New Jersey mold inspection should provide will also address controlling moisture indoors.

An excess water problem indoors (like from a water leak) is one of the most commonly reported causes for mold issues. However, water leaks aren’t the only reason your RH (relative humidity) may be too high. It could be a window left open on a wet day, too little ventilation as you went on vacation, or condensation from pipes and appliances in hot weather. Even a small damp spot can encourage the tiny spores found everywhere in the air to begin growing indoors. These molds reproduce, mold contamination may start to spread through the property, and allergic reactions may occur. For some people, allergic responses to mold exposure may be more severe, such as asthma attacks or skin rash from touching mold.

Besides mold concerns, clean indoor air quality is a basic metric of good living quality in a healthy home, especially in states with high pollution levels like NJ.

    What Our Clients Say

AAA Lead professionals took care of my mold problem from start to finish. They were professional , knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with. I have been having a mold problem in my basement since we bought the home two years ago and we have worked with several mold remediation companies to try and get rid of the mold, it always came back 6 weeks later. It is now six month since AAA Lead Professionals performed there work and the basement is still mold free. We can finally start using our basement without having to worry about our health. Thanks so much for everything. You have really earned a five start review from me.

    Sara Sicker

I hired AAA Lead Pros to do the mold remediation in my basement. Within an hour of my initial call someone came out to give me an estimate and mold assessment report. Initially, I was not happy to find they charged for the estimate. Once I received the quote back that quickly changed. Lead Pros are extremely well priced. I’m talking a third of what their competitors attempted to charge me. They were also willing deduct the cost of the estimate off the final price of the job. I hired them on the spot after receiving the quote and they were on the job site within a week. As for the work itself, I could not be more satisfied. The supervisor was friendly and willing to ease the concerns of both myself and the tenants by answering an onslaught of our questions. Once the walls and floors started being torn down it became clear to them that to do the job correctly far more material would need to be removed than what was initially agreed upon. This was done at no additional cost to me which made it clear in my mind that they are dedicated to getting the job done correctly without trying to take advantage of their customers. The mold killing agent that was used was a green product so it was not necessary to vacate the premise during the time the work was going on. All contaminated materials were removed and hauled off site. Anything which could not be removed (structural support beams) were treated and encapsulated. They also used an air scrubber which was left running for 24 hours straight to ensure any disturbed mold spores would not further contaminate the air and job site. After the job was concluded I felt compelled to tip them for their great service. They wouldn’t even accept the tip! This is why I felt personally obligated to leave them this positive review. I am normally very skeptical of contractors so it is refreshing to find an outfit like this with integrity. They will absolutely be getting my business again should the need ever arise.

I’ve used AAA Lead Professionals multiple times for projects we’ve done. We’ve had renovation projects with mold in the crawlspaces, asbestos shingles and tile on another project, and lead on exterior paint of an older house. AAA took care of all these problems in a timely fashion and at a reasonable price. Happy to use their services and to refer them to others.
